DM Sets Deadlines for 273 Jal Jeevan Schemes

District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar chaired a Jal Jeevan Mission review on Saturday, 29 August 2026, at the Collectorate auditorium and set staggered completion dates for 273 drinking-water schemes still in the district pipeline. Chief Development Officer Prakhar Kumar Singh was present. Also in the room were the Executive Engineer of Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (Rural), the L&T project manager, and assistant engineers.

The three bands are the sitting. One hundred and thirty-five schemes standing at 90 to 99 percent are to be completed by September–October 2026. Seventy-four schemes at 75 to 90 percent are to finish by December 2026. Sixty-four schemes at 50 to 75 percent have February 2027. Add 135, 74 and 64 and the review covered 273 schemes. No village list, rupee figure or household count was read out with those bands.

Satyendra Kumar asked officers to expedite timely, quality implementation. That is the on-record instruction from the chair. The sitting also put a manpower increase on the calendar by September 2026. Pending tehsil matters and National Highway NOCs are to be chased through weekly video conferences and monthly physical meetings.

The review sat in Varanasi. The files on the table were district Jal Jeevan files.

CDO Prakhar Kumar Singh is the development-side name in the auditorium with the DM. The Executive Engineer, UP Jal Nigam (Rural), is the department title recorded with them. The L&T project manager is the contractor-side designation. Assistant engineers sat with that group. Those three posts were not issued as personal names on Saturday. They are carried as designations.

The 135-scheme band is the nearest to close. Ninety to 99 percent is already the last stretch. September–October 2026 is the window the DM attached to it. The 74-scheme band is the winter window, December 2026, from a 75 to 90 percent mark. The 64-scheme band is the longest of the three, February 2027, from 50 to 75 percent. The three dates are not one completion month. They are staggered on purpose.

Manpower by September 2026 sits beside the first band’s September–October close. It is an instruction to increase strength, not a published headcount. Tehsil pendency and NH NOCs are the clearance items named. Weekly VC and monthly physical meetings are the method named for those files. No NOC count was announced.

Saturday produced a review and a deadline grid, not a commissioning calendar for any named village. The DM’s quality-and-time line is the method he attached to all three bands. Coordination between the Collectorate, the CDO, Jal Nigam (Rural) and the L&T project desk is how those 273 schemes are to be moved.

The 90–99 percent schemes are why September–October is the first date on the board. December is for the middle band. February 2027 is for the schemes still in the 50–75 percent range. Anyone collapsing the three windows into a single “this year” finish date is ignoring the stagger the DM actually set.

Until the 135 schemes actually close in September–October, and the later two bands hit December and February, Saturday remains a Collectorate deadline order. It is not a completion notice.
