Varanasi: On the fifth day of Navratri, devotees worship the divine form of Skandamata, one of the nine manifestations of Goddess Durga. In the sacred city of Varanasi, the goddess is revered in the form of Bageshwari Devi, where an ancient temple dedicated to her stands as a significant center of faith.

From late night and early morning, a large number of devotees gather at the temple to offer prayers and seek the blessings of Maa Skandamata. The temple holds special spiritual importance during Navratri, as it is believed that the goddess fulfills the wishes of her devotees during this auspicious period.

Maa Skandamata, worshipped here as Bageshwari Devi, is also considered the goddess of knowledge and wisdom. Because of this belief, the temple witnesses a particularly large presence of students who come to pray for success in education and a bright future.

Offering coconuts, red hibiscus (adhul) garlands, chunri, and sweets to the goddess holds special significance at this temple. Devotees believe that by offering these items with devotion, Maa grants them wisdom, knowledge, and fulfillment of their wishes.

The Skandamata Bageshwari Temple in Varanasi has remained a center of faith for centuries. During Navratri, the temple becomes a hub of spiritual devotion as devotees visit to express their prayers—some seeking knowledge, some praying for jobs, and others wishing for prosperity and happiness.
