Car Set Ablaze After Maggi Dispute at Varanasi Cafe; Police Examine Attack

A late-night disagreement over a food order allegedly escalated into violence outside a cafe in Varanasi’s Cantonment police-station area, where a group of men damaged vehicles and set the operator’s car on fire. The confrontation reportedly began after the restaurant declined to prepare Maggi, turning an ordinary service refusal into a serious public-order incident.

According to the operator’s account carried in local reporting, the men arrived on motorcycles without registration plates. They allegedly created a disturbance inside or immediately outside the establishment, assaulted the operator after he refused their demand and then targeted vehicles belonging to the cafe. One car was set ablaze before the group fled. No casualty was reported in the initial account available at the time of publication.

The use of motorcycles without visible number plates is likely to be an important line of inquiry.
