Varanasi: In a unique celebration blending culture and spirituality, a Canadian couple chose the sacred city of Varanasi to solemnize their wedding according to Hindu traditions. The ceremony took place on a boat in the middle of the Ganges near the historic Manikarnika Ghat, creating a picturesque and spiritual setting for the rituals.

The groom, Yanik, wore a traditional kurta-pyjama with a turban, while the bride, Manon, dressed in a red lehenga adorned with traditional jewelry. The ceremony was conducted with Vedic chants, where the couple performed sacred Hindu rituals including exchanging garlands and the application of sindoor, symbolizing their marital bond.

Following the ceremony, the couple visited the nearby Ratneshwar Mahadev Temple to offer prayers and seek blessings.

According to local organizer Martin, the couple had already been legally married in Canada nearly five years ago, but had long dreamed of getting married again according to Sanatan traditions in India.

The couple expressed their deep admiration for Indian culture and spirituality, which inspired them to travel to Varanasi for the ceremony. They even purchased their wedding outfits locally to fully embrace the traditional experience.

A priest selected March 10 as the auspicious date, after which the rituals were conducted following Vedic customs.

Both Yanik and Manon, who work as professional hairstylists and run a salon in Canada, said that celebrating their wedding in the spiritual environment of Kashi was truly a dream come true.
