Biker Dies After Thar Hit on Golf Course Road

GURUGRAM: Mohammad Idrish, 43, a construction worker, died after a black Mahindra Thar allegedly hit his motorcycle from behind at a traffic light on Golf Course Road near DLF Camellias on the night of 26 September and the driver fled, according to an FIR at Sector 53 police station.

Idrish was riding with pillion Ashiq Ali, 23, toward Malviya Nagar when the SUV struck them. Both were thrown about 10 feet, police say. Bikers Mohd Naim and Ranjit Yadav, who were also at the signal, took the injured men to Narayana Superspeciality Hospital in Sector 24, roughly 11 km away. The hospital referred them because of trauma. Idrish was being shifted toward Civil Hospital in Sector 10, another stretch of about 11 km, and died on the way. Ali was later taken to Safdarjung Hospital and then to a family hospital in Gonda.

Sector 53 police registered the FIR on 27 September on Naim's complaint against an unidentified Thar driver under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section 281 for rash driving and Section 106 for causing death by negligence. Both Idrish and Ali worked in construction.

CCTV hunt, unclear plates, inquest on

Police are checking CCTV along the corridor. Number plates on the fleeing Thar are not clearly readable in the footage examined so far, officers said, and efforts to identify the vehicle continue. An assistant sub-inspector and a constable visited the hospitals. An inquest is underway to record the cause and sequence for the magisterial file.

This crash is not the Dwarka Expressway Thar case in which a Bhiwani resident was arrested this week. Golf Course Road near Camellias sits under Sector 53; the expressway complaint is with Sector 10A. Mixing the two files would only confuse families and investigators tracking separate SUVs and separate nights on the same calendar weekend.

For Ali, treatment moved from Narayana to Safdarjung and then to Gonda under family arrangements. Police have not released a detailed injury bulletin beyond the referral and transfer path. For Idrish's family, the FIR and inquest are the immediate legal track while the SUV remains unidentified. Officers have not invented a named driver where the cameras have not yet given one.

Hit-and-run probes on Golf Course Road often stall when ANPR and junction cameras fail to catch a clean plate. Sector 53's update so far is blunt: plates unclear, CCTV still being pulled, no named accused yet. Until a vehicle and driver are fixed, the case stays against an unknown Thar driver under Sections 281 and 106, with Naim's complaint and the hospital transfer trail as the backbone of the file.
