Online registration for the Atal Bal Hindi Kavita Pratiyogita 2026 closes today, 28 September. The competition is being run by the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan headquarters circulated the scheme to schools on 24 September.

The CGPDTM note links the competition to Hindi Month 2026 and to wider work on original writing among schoolchildren. It recalls last year's Atal Bal Hindi poetry effort and asks schools to again channel entries through the official online route rather than through informal collections.

School heads are expected to guide students on the portal steps, keep parental consent paperwork in order where the school requires it, and avoid last-minute bulk uploads on the closing evening.

Who can take part

The scheme is aimed at school students writing original Hindi poetry. Exact class bands and theme lists are set out on the competition portal and in the annexures attached to the CGPDTM letter. Students should read the live form before drafting, because theme wording and file format rules can differ from last year.

Entries that are copied, machine-generated without disclosure, or uploaded outside the portal risk rejection. Teachers reviewing drafts in class should keep the focus on the child's own language and ideas.

Why the closing date matters today

28 September is the last day of the online registration window indicated in the materials circulated to schools. Waiting for a school office to open tomorrow is not a safe plan if the portal clock stops tonight.

Parents of students in Kendriya Vidyalayas and other schools that received the forward should check with the Hindi teacher whether the school is uploading on the student's behalf or whether the family must complete the form. Mixed instructions are common in multi-school contests.

After registration

Shortlisting and later stages, including any sammelan or publication of selected poems, follow the schedule published by CGPDTM on the portal. Schools should not assume that a successful upload equals selection. Keep the acknowledgment receipt from the portal.
