AIIMS CRE-5 Jaipur Re-exam Set for 7 September After Power Failure

AIIMS has cancelled the disrupted morning shift of the Common Recruitment Examination-5 at one Jaipur test centre and scheduled a replacement examination for 7 September 2026. The decision follows a power failure at the ION Digital Zone in Sitapura during the 31 August test.

The cancellation is tightly limited. It concerns the morning shift at the Sitapura centre identified in reports as RJ0101 and RJ0102. Candidates who completed CRE-5 elsewhere, or in another shift, should not assume that their examination has been cancelled. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences said revised admit cards would be issued for the affected candidates.

That distinction matters because CRE-5 is a large recruitment exercise covering non-faculty posts across participating AIIMS institutions and other central government bodies. Careers360 reported that the exercise is linked to 1,484 vacancies. A local disruption can therefore generate national confusion quickly, particularly when screenshots of an incomplete notice circulate without the centre code or shift.

What affected candidates should do

Candidates from the cancelled shift should return to the official AIIMS examinations portal and download the revised admit card when it becomes available. The replacement card, rather than the earlier one, will be the document to use for the 7 September examination. It should be checked for the reporting time, test-centre address and any changed instructions.

AIIMS has said the original conditions of the examination will continue to apply. Candidates should carry the identity document and other items specified on the admit card, reach the centre within the reporting window and avoid relying on a coaching-channel summary for entry rules. A re-examination date does not automatically mean that every other instruction has changed.

Akashvani reported that about 2,000 candidates were affected across the two centre codes at the Sitapura facility. It also said system logs and CCTV records were being preserved. Those details are relevant to the integrity of the replacement process, but the practical instruction for candidates remains simple: treat the official revised admit card as the controlling document.

Why the shift was stopped

The interruption was attributed to a power failure at the test facility. In a computer-based examination, a brief outage is not merely an inconvenience. It can break authentication, interrupt response saving and leave candidates with unequal working time. Continuing only for those terminals that recover first can create a fairness problem that is difficult to repair afterwards.

Cancelling a single centre-shift and conducting it again is therefore a narrower remedy than cancelling CRE-5 in Jaipur or across the country. It preserves completed examinations while giving the disrupted group a fresh, common sitting.

The episode is also a reminder that high-stakes computer-based tests require more than a nominal generator. Test agencies need audited backup capacity, tested switch-over procedures, staff who can record an interruption precisely and a communication plan that reaches candidates before rumours do.

Keep the two Jaipur exam stories separate

Another Jaipur examination disruption has also been in the news, involving a NEET-PG retest. That is a different examination conducted under a different authority. The 7 September update reported here is for AIIMS CRE-5 recruitment candidates affected at the Sitapura centre.

Candidates should not mix notices, dates or admit-card links between the two. The safest route is to open aiimsexams.ac.in directly, use the CRE-5 section and match the notice to the centre and shift printed on the original card.

The replacement examination is now seven days away. Affected candidates should preserve the earlier admit card and any message received from the testing agency, download the revised card as soon as it is released and plan travel only after confirming the address. For everyone outside the named centre-shift, there is no basis in the 31 August notice to treat CRE-5 as cancelled.
