99-Year-Old Tradition in Varanasi: 19.52 Billion ‘Ram Naam’ Procession Marks Ram Navami at Ram Ramapati Bank

A grand celebration of faith and devotion is unfolding in Varanasi as Ram Ramapati Bank marks its 99th annual anniversary on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami. The highlight of this spiritual event is the remarkable procession and parikrama of over 19.52 billion handwritten “Ram Naam” and around 1.25 crore “Shiv Naam,” collected by devotees over time—showcasing an extraordinary expression of श्रद्धा and belief.
The birth of Lord Shri Ram was ceremonially celebrated at noon with full rituals and devotion, drawing thousands of devotees to the sacred premises located in the Tripura Bhairavi area near Dashashwamedh. Under the leadership of Mahant Chandra Kumar, the 10-day-long religious आयोजन also features bhajan-kirtan, sadhu bhandara, and special prayers, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere.
This unique tradition of “depositing” Ram Naam at the Ram Ramapati Bank holds deep religious significance, as devotees believe that chanting and preserving the holy name brings peace, prosperity, and spiritual upliftment—not only in life but also in the journey beyond.
As chants of “Ram Naam” echo continuously, the entire परिसर has transformed into a divine hub of devotion, attracting श्रद्धालु from across regions. Devotees are encouraged to participate with their families and be part of this rare and powerful spiritual experience.
